Since Trunk was founded, we've worked directly with some of the world's finest manufacturers to design and produce custom collaborative items, from a range of bags by PORTER to a special edition tie by Drake's. This season we've taken things a step further, launching our own collection of tailored jackets.
Trunk jackets are hand tailored in Italy by Caruso, using fabrics from Fox Brothers and Breanish Tweed. The collection is something we've been working on for a while, making trips to factories and mills, going over fabric swatches, and considering details and finishes. We're immensely happy with the result - five jackets that combine the best of the English and Italian tailoring traditions, making for a highly versatile wardrobe staple with the perfect fit.
Caruso, a company we've worked with for many seasons, is an Italian atelier with a long-standing heritage in producing own-label tailored clothing for many of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses. The jackets are hand cut, tailored with soft canvassing in the chest and shoulder, and finished to an exceptionally high level. The cut is authentically Italian - slim and short, with classic Italian rolling three-button fastening. The detailing is more in line with traditional English tailoring - with a slightly roped shoulder, half lining, flapped pockets and natural horn buttons.

The fabrics were sourced from two of Britain's most distinguished mills. We visited each mill in order to gain a better understanding of the weaving process and each company's unique heritage, before hand picking the fabrics that would be used in our jackets.
Fox Brothers & Co. is based in Somerset, in the West of England. Founded in 1772, Fox Brothers is one of the most highly regarded cloth mills in the world, credited as the original inventor of flannel fabric. The company has an illustrious history of supplying luxury woollen and worsted cloths to fashion houses and Savile Row tailors, as well as the original khaki uniform serge to the British Military. Many of the company's employees are second or third generation weavers, utilising traditional looms in tandem with cutting-edge technology.

At almost the opposite end of Britain, the Breanish Tweed mill is located on the northern tip of the Outer Hebrides islands, off the coast of North-Western Scotland. Breanish Tweed is handwoven on a ninety-year-old Hattersley loom, taking around three days to produce a single length of cloth. Employing just three weavers, each with over forty years experience, Breanish is one of the last mills to handwarp its tweed, using unique methods and yarns to produce an exceptionally fine, lightweight cloth. On our visit to the mill we were granted access to the company's archives, which inspired us to commission the weaving of two classic, understated tweeds for our jackets.
